Austria/Hungary
Once Austria and Hungary were one kingdom (including multiple of the current surrounding contries by the way).
Later the iron curtain divided both countries.
Nowadays the border looks friendly and it is hard to believe not too long ago this was an inaccesible border.

I start my walk along the border between Austria and Hungary at the tripoint with Slovakia.
Here border marker A.19 can be found. A curious number, as the numbers start here, counting towards the southwest.
The markers have the year 1922, the border has been formed after the first World War.
Also there is a three-country-bench near the tripoint (but fully within Austria). A bit futher down the road is marker A.19 1. together with a pole that might have been part of the border fence in the past? This is followed by marker A.20, which exists three times. The border crosses a road here and therefore there are markers on both sides. However on the eastern side of the road there is a path forming the border too, apparently. I am not sure which "wegmitte" is meant by the sign.
I found out the road on the Hungarian side has only recently be turned into an asphalted road. A few years ago this was still a gravel road. I follow the border only a short section further, till marker A.20.1.
I rejoin the border near Jennersdorf. Close to stone C.123. 4. a watchtower is placed. This tower has not been here originally, it has been bought in Hungary and is placed here later as a remainder to the iron curtain. I am very glad that one can cross the border so easily nowadays, but I think it is also good to not forget the past, so I liked this place a lot. Not in the last place because you were able to climb the watchtower freely. I followed the markers along the border between this watchtower and the tripoint with Slovenia.
It is a pleasant walk through the forest. Some of the markers are single, sometimes they are at both sides of the path. Markers C.124 are larger than the others. A new series starts here, I follow it till C.124.20.
The first part goes through an interesting ditch.
I missed stone C.124.3 here. It's the same story as before: the markers seem to be on both sides on the path or at one side of the path alternately.
It is possible that I missed double markers, or they are gone. Especially when the letters are not on both sides of the stone I assume this is the case. After C.124.20 I followed the path while the border follows the stream. I continue at C.125.6 where two stones can be found on both sides of the stream. The pleasant forest road continues from here towards the tripoint. C.125.14 consitst of two stones behind each other. Maybe there used to be a path over here, it looks a bit strange now. Marker C.125.16. is the last stone before the tripoint Austria-Hungary-Slovenia. I really liked this tripoint, on a hill inside the forest. From here the borders with Slovenia continue.
